Tehran (IP)- The chief of Iran's presidential staff referring to the US effort to activate the snapback mechanism, said that US President Donald Trump is currently seeking to break the deadlock in the domestic and foreign arenas.

Iran Press/Iran news: Mahmoud Vaezi, in an interview with Iran national TV Channel 2 on Saturday evening about the re-imposition of sanctions from the US point of view and Tehran's reaction, added: "The summary of Trump's performance shows the decline in popularity, the increase in problems associated with the COVID-19, as well as anti-racist demonstrations in various American cities and many other issues."

Trump thought that the United States was in the same situation as before, and when it sent a resolution to the Security Council, it would align its influence with other countries, but for about two months of propaganda, it presented a resolution that in the Security Council, only one country, along with the United States, voted in favor of the resolution, and 13 countries did not support Washington, he added.

The chief of the presidential staff noting that the members of the Security Council do not accept the request for a snapback mechanism from the United States said: "After the defeat in the Security Council, the United States has resorted to a resolution of which it is not a member."

The United States has put the snapback mechanism on its agenda after rejecting its proposed UN Security Council resolution extending Iran's arms embargo indefinitely; though other permanent members of the Security Council have stated that the US does not have the legal authority to activate the snapback mechanism, referring to the US official withdrawal from the Security Council.
