Tehran (IP)- President Hassan Rouhani stated that all government ministries should be active in foreign relations, adding that the development and strengthening of strategic relations with neighbors is one of the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran Press/ Iran News: President Hassan Rouhani said that the development and strengthening of strategic relations with neighbors, especially in the fields of trade and economy, is one of the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the historical and cultural commonalities of the nations of the region are a strong basis for further development and promotion of cooperation because it serves the common interests of the nations and governments of the region.

Rouhani said at the second meeting on developing cooperation with neighbors on Monday: "Strengthening and expanding economic cooperation with neighboring countries can play an important role in overcoming problems."

Stressing that 'foreign relations' have a much broader meaning than 'foreign policy', the President said: "Although the foreign policy is the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry, all ministries in the field of foreign relations can have foreign exchanges and should utilize all capacities."

Rouhani said that the Iranians and government have always stood by the neighboring countries and friendly and brotherly governments and welcomed the expansion of bilateral and regional relations with neighbors."

The President called the strengthening of relations between the nations of the region and the development of tourism, joint ventures, and the expansion of banking and financial cooperation between neighbors an important and valuable step in further strengthening relations.
