  • Nigeria: 17 military men killed in gun attack

On Sunday night Nigerian media reported that 17 military men had been killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in northwestern of the country.

Iran Press/Africa: No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, Boko Haram is believed to be behind it. Nigeria has seen bloody attacks in recent years. The attacks began in the north of the country and then spread to other parts of Nigeria.

The Boko Haram terrorist group took up arms in 2009 with the aim of establishing itself in northern Nigeria and expanded its attacks to Niger, Chad and northern Cameroon.

Boko Haram has killed more than 20,000 people in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad during this period and displaced more than two million.

The inability of the governments in the vicinity of the Boko Haram terrorist group, especially Nigeria, to deal with the group has led the war against the Boko Haram terrorist group into attrition warfare.
