The Taliban said in a statement Tuesday that their differences with the United States over the withdrawal of foreign military forces from Afghanistan have been resolved.

Iran Press/Asia: According to a statement from the Taliban office, the United States and the Taliban have resolved differences in peace talks over the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, as well as Taliban guarantees to cut ties with other extremist groups.

The statement comes as the eighth round of talks between the Taliban and the US was held in Doha, Qatar this week, IRNA reported.

US officials have so far declined to comment on the Taliban statement, and the Taliban has not provided further details.

But Zalmay Khalilzad, the US envoy who has been leading the talks since they began late last year, tweeted that they had made “excellent progress.”

Khalilzad stressed that he would travel to India to garner more international support, but his representatives and the Taliban would work on the technical and practical mechanism of a four-part agreement.

Following the US-Taliban peace deal, an inter-Afghan summit will be held in Oslo, Norway, to discuss the structure of the future Afghan government and the division of power between the beneficiary groups.

Last week, the Afghan State Minister for Peace Affairs announced that a six-member delegation was set up for the talks between Afghans in Norway.
