Kabul (IP)- In a statement, the ISIS terrorist group (also known as Daesh terrorists) claimed responsibility for Friday's terrorist attack on a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the death of Afghan politician and an ethnic Hazara leader, Abdul Ali Mazari, in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul.

Iran Press/ Asia: Armed attackers at 11:20 am, local time, attacked the memorial ceremony of Abdul Ali Mazari, the late leader of the Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, using light and heavy weapons.

"The attack started with a boom, apparently a rocket landed in the area, Abdullah Abdullah and some other politicians ... escaped the attack unhurt," Abdullah's spokesman, Fraidoon Kwazoon, who was also present, told Reuters by telephone.

The Taleban denied responsibility for the attack on the gathering marking the anniversary of the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, an ethnic Hazara leader who was killed in 1995 after being taken prisoner by the militants.

President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack as a crime against humanity, his spokesman said.

The terrorist attack has so far killed 23 people and injured 33 others.
