Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday met with Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan’s Chairman of the National Supreme Council of Reconciliation.

Iran PressAsia: The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran for political affairs, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who headed a delegation to Kabul on Wednesday evening, met with Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) in Afghanistan, on Thursday afternoon to continue consultations with Afghan officials.

In the meeting, Araghchi reiterated on Iran's support to Kabul and appreciated Afghanistan's government efforts to finalized national reconciliation dialogues.

Abdullah Abdullah presenting a brief report on the latest achievement on the national reconciliation dialogues, express his countries gratitude to the Iranian government for its support for Afghanistan.

In the meeting bilateral and regional issues as well as topics related to Afghanistan peace and security, economic growth, two countries' joint efforts in the fighting terrorism, drug trafficking, and latest condition of coronavirus and mutual cooperation to contain pandemic discussed.

Araghchi meets Afghanistan Chairman of National Supreme Council of Reconciliation

Araghchi, who arrived in Kabul on Wednesday, met with Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar last night and on Thursday met with Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, the acting head of the Afghan Ministry of Finance.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, heading a delegation has traveled to Afghanistan with the aim of pursuing agreements, especially finalizing the text of the comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between two sides, in a meeting with Hanif Atmar on Wednesday evening expressed hope that the talks and the peace process in Afghanistan begin as soon as possible.

Also, Araghchi on Thursday met with Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, the acting head of the Afghan Ministry of Finance, and called for joint planning and the development of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs has scheduled to meet with a number of other Afghan officials today and to attend a meeting this evening at the Institute for Strategic Studies in Afghanistan.  207/205
