Bomb blast in Afghanistan kill, injured at least 40 people
The commander of 209 Shaheen Army Corps in northern Afghanistan said that a truck bomb attack on an army commando base in Balkh province killed and wounded more than 40 people.
Iran Press/ Asia: Hebatullah Alizai, commander of 209 Shaheen Army Corps, told local Afghan media today, Tuesday, that at 8:45 am, a car bomb close to the commando compound in Balkh district of Balkh province, was identified before reaching the site and Was targeted.
"At least 1 commando soldier was killed and 6 others were wounded in the blast," the commander said.
He added: "Civilians are the main victims in this explosion, in which more than 35 people were killed or injured, but the exact number is not clear yet."
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying dozens of members of National Security Unit 06 had been killed.
Yesterday, the Taliban attacked the Ghazni's Deh Yak district police chief with a car bomb, killing six soldiers and wounding nine others.
Fighting is raging in various parts of Afghanistan between government forces and the Taliban. However, the timing of the start of the inter-Afghan peace talks is still unclear.
