Members of the bureau of Catalonia parliament in Spain discussed the activities of separatists forces.

"The separatists forces today have decided to file a lawsuit against judge Pablo Llarena despite our opposition as well as that of the the legal counsels. They know too well that their suit will not work", Alejandro Fernández Álvarez, MP People's Party of Catalonia (PPC) noted.

"This is nothing new from the separatists as of late, it's been their leitmotiv to go against everyone", Álvarez said.

"If they continue down this way, using public resources to serve the interest of one party, they can be sued for misuse of public funds and we do not exclude suit them for this. Roger Torrent, Parliament Speaker has copied the worst from his predecessor, Mrs Carme Forcadell: to serve the interest of half of the chamber, and ignore the other half. His is an affront to the prestige of this institution",Alejandro Fernández Álvarez, MP People's Party of Catalonia (PPC)  added.

"It is a shame that the speaker writes to the Judge to dictate who should go to jail and who should leave it. Today he wants to use the parliament to file a lawsuit for the defence of Jordi Sanchez as if he were his lawyer. We are absolutely opposed to this", Ines Arrimadas, MP Citizens Party (C's) said.

"We believe that this decision which has was taken by only one part of parliament is a mistake. It puts the legislative body of Catalonia at loggerheads with the judicial power of the State. The problem in Catalonia is political and we need to go back to the rules of the game if we want to resolve it", Eva Granados, MP Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC) noted.

The Catalan parliament had scheduled an investiture vote for jailed activist Jordi Sànchez on Friday. However, on Thursday, supreme court judge Pablo Llarena rejected his request to be granted leave to attend the session, warning that there was a risk he would offend again which could lead to “serious consequences”. He also refused him permission to take part in it via video-link.

Sànchez, who was jailed in October 2017 and is the former leader of the biggest rank-and-file pro-independence association, is awaiting trial for rebellion and sedition. In March, he made a similar request for leave, which the same court denied.

Since pro-independence parties won a majority in the Catalan parliament in a December election, the courts have also blocked a bid by the region’s exiled former leader, Carles Puigdemont, to return to the post. Another candidate, Jordi Turull, was jailed last month, the day before facing a second-round investiture vote.
