"BASF is in Iran since 60 years. At the moment of the sanctions taken since some years, BASF always stayed in Iran and since two years now, since the lifting of the sanctions, at least from the European part, we have boosted our business, we have recruited personnel and we have multiplied the contacts with local companies, especially with petrochemical companies like NPC and others."said Xavier Verfaillie,  who have been Managing Director of BASF in Iran since two years.;

"We always have the intention to stay in Iran. We will not leave tomorrow. There are big petrochemical companies like Total who are installed there now. They are going to invest; and  also other French groups like Renault and PSA, they are investing now in Iran. There will probably be repercussions in the energy sector, but I still believe in this country and whatever happens, we with BASF have a commitment with Iran and we will stay there." he concluded.

According to Iran’s 2025 Vision, the total output capacity of petrochemical products has to be reached to 120 million tons and 180 million tons by 2020 and 2025 respectively. Continuing this trend, it is highly expected that the total capacity of downstream exports to be enhanced considerably, which definitely would have a pivotal role in flourishing Iran’s national economy.
