Tensions broke out as thousands of extreme far right supporters , thronged the streets of London to participate in 'Day for Freedom' rally.

Video footage emerged on social media of a number of tensions breaking out in London.

The rally in London, which was organised by the extreme far-right group,the English Defence League,  was ostensibly to "defend free speech", and it began at Whitehall .

Police said one man was arrested in connection to a public order offence.
