Iran's ambassador to Britain said the International Maritime Organization (IMO) should be informed about UK violation of international maritime rules and regulations.

Iran Press/Europe: Iran's ambassador to Britain, Hamid Baeidinejad in a tweet on Thursday mentioned the need for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to be notified of UK violation of international maritime rules and regulations. 

امروز طی یادداشتی اطلاعات جزئی از تخلفات کشتی انگلیسی Stena Impero در تنگه ی هرمز به سازمان بین المللی دریانوردی ارائه گردید. این کشتی بعد از برخورد با یک لنج در منطقه، با ورود به تنگه ی هرمز از مسیر خروجی و خاموش کردن سیستم ارتباطی، مقررات دریانوردی در منطقه را به مخاطره انداخت.

Today, Islamic Republic of Iran submitted a partial data of violation of UK-flagged oil tanker entitled 'Stena Impero' committed in the Strait of Hormuz to IMO, he added.

After colliding with a launch in the Strait of Hormuz, UK-flagged oil tanker jeopardized maritime rules and regulations with switching off its GPS tracker.

On 20 July, the spokesman of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that the impounded British oil tanker, Stena Impero, was moving the wrong way, trying to enter the Strait of Hormuz in waters normally used by ships and tankers exiting the Strait.

According to media reports, all Stena Impero crew are safe and in good health.

According to the IRGC spokesman, Iran had no choice but to impound the tanker, for safety reasons, and also because the oil tanker failed to respond to repeated warnings and messages sent to it by the IRGC navy. 203/209
