Request for immediate UN meeting to lift Iran's food and medicine sanctions
Europe (IP) - The Union of Islamic Students' Associations in Europe called on the UN Secretary-General to convene an urgent meeting of the Security Council, the General Assembly and other UN bodies to lift the economic blockade on Iran, especially in medicine and food.
Iran Press/Europe: The letter states that, in accordance with Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, this letter is an urgent request in the face of the global crisis caused by Corona.
In the current crisis, due to illegal and unilateral US sanctions, the Iranian people's access to basic food and medicine has been severely curtailed, the letter said.
However, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and the order of the International Court of Justice, Iran must be able to benefit from humanitarian issues such as medicine, agricultural products, and foodstuffs. That is why we, the Union of Islamic Students' Associations in Europe, with more than fifty years of experience working against discrimination and injustice and defending human rights, have found it necessary to make this direct request to you as the highest executive of the United Nations.
