  • Russia defends Iran's right to use nuclear energy

Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov stated that Moscow will defend the right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to use nuclear energy in accordance with NPT.

Iran Press/Europe: Mikhail Ulyanov reacted to a tweet from Mark Dubowitz, the CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) based in Washington, which is also affiliated with the Israeli regime.

Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna stated in a Twitter message that “The atomic opportunities were given to Iran by NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty). These opportunities and capabilities are absolutely legitimate as long as they are used for peaceful purposes. The duty of IAEA is to certify the non-diversion of nuclear materials. Those who disagree with that work against NPT.”

Diplomatic efforts to reach a comprehensive, long-term and proper solution to the Iranian nuclear issue culminated in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) concluded on 14 July 2015 by China, France, Germany, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, the United States, the High Representative of the European Union (the E3/EU+3) and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the international agreement on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA, and announced the return of nuclear sanctions.
