Martyrdom anniversary of the eighth Shia Imam held in Mashhad, Iran.
Iran Press/Iran News: Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan and several other countries have flocked to the holy city of Mashhad in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the eighth Shia Imam, Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (PBUH) at his mausoleum, Mehr News Agency reported.
Two and half millions of Shiite pilgrims across Iran gathered in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of the country, to attend mourning ceremony on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza.
Iranians also held mourning rituals nationwide on Thursday to mark the anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s passing as well as the martyrdom of his grandson, Imam Hassan (PBUH), the second Shia Imam.

Black-clad mourners from various social classes and age groups as well as Shiites from other countries came together in Mashhad mosques as well as places of worship and religious sites nationwide to observe the rituals on the anniversary of Imam's martydom.
