An Iranian female cyclist has made history by winning a medal in an international cycling championship, becoming the first ever Iranian woman cyclist to do so.
Iran Press / Iran News: In Asian Road Cycling Championships that is being held in Uzbekistan, Iranian cyclist, Somayeh Yazdani, garnered third place, winning a bronze medal, and became the first Iranian female cyclist to win a medal in an international competition.
The 39th Asian Road Cycling Championship started last Tuesday in Uzbekistan as the strongest athletes and teams fight for the title of the best cyclists on the continent, as well as for qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Iran Press reported.

More than 500 athletes from 40 Asian countries and regions are taking part in the most prestigious cycling competition of the continent to be held in Uzbekistan, according to the joint statement of the Asian Cycling Confederation and Uzbekistan's Cycling Federation.
Earlier on Wednesday 24 April, Amirhossein Jamshidian from Iran claimed a bronze medal in the 40-km men’s under-23 individual time trial of the Asian Cycling Championships. 212/211/105
