Iranian and Iraqi army chiefs meet in Tehran
The deputy commander of the Iraqi army in charge of operations and training met and conferred with the chief of operations at the joint chiefs of staff of Iran's armed forces.
Iran Press/Iran news: The meeting took place at the headquarters of Iran's armed forces in Tehran on Sunday.
According to an Iran Press report, speaking at the meeting Mehdi Rabbani emphasized that the two great nations of Iran and Iraq have much in common, including historic ties, a common religion, and a common culture.
He stressed: "We consider the Iraqi people as our friends and brothers."
Brigadier General Rabbani also said that Iran is ready to provide the Iraqi Army with training assistance, in all areas of combat, including the training of land, navy and air force personnel.
For his part, deputy commander of the Iraqi army in charge of operations and training Major General Tariq Abbas Ibrahim Abdul-Hussein expressed his satisfaction about his visit to Iran and called for holding of joint military exercises by the armed forces of the two countries, as well as joint training sessions for the two armies.
