Local elections to choose assistants to the Islamic City Council of Tehran was held on Friday.

Iran Press/ Iran news: The voting starts at 8 am and it  ended at 4 pm. At 1,700 polling stations where voters will cast their votes, some 7,000 fully electronic ballot boxes were used for the first time in the local elections. 

Total of 12,328 candidates had registered for the election, some 12,030 of them have been qualified to run in the elections, Media says.

Pirouz Hanachi, Mayor of Tehran while attending in the fully electronic Tehran City Council assistants' election said: "we have tried to select those who are mostly recognized as the professional candidates ."

According to stattistics, 53 percent of the candidates are under 40 years old and 16 percent of the candidates are under thirty-year-old. It is while 25 percent of the candidates are the women. according to experts, the number of youth participation is a sign of passionate election.203
