Tehran (IP) - Iran's Judiciary spokesman has confirmed that the former mayor of Tehran, who is being tried for the murder of his wife, has been sentenced to capital punishment.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Iran's Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hussein Esmaeili said: "The court has ruled retribution for Mohammad Ali Najafi accused of murdering his wife."

Najafi has already confessed to killing his wife, Iran Press reported.

With gunshots in her chest, the former Tehran's mayor's wife Mitra Ostad was found dead at her apartment in Tehran on 28 May 2019. 104/211/208
