Qom (IP) – On the occasion of the first day of Muharram, the first month in the lunar Islamic calendar, the changing of the flag ceremony, replacing a red with a black flag, was carried out at Hazrat Masoumeh (Peace Be Upon Her) Holy Shrine in Qom, south of Tehran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Saeedi, the Head of Astaan Hazrat Fatemeh Masoumeh (PBUH), Qom residents and pilgrims participated in the ceremony, Iran Press reported.

The Hijri year of 1441 begins from Sunday, September 1, 2019.

With the start of the month of Muharram, Iranian people are covered in black, expressing their devotion and respect to Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam.
