Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart voiced Iran's determination to develop and strengthen relations with regional countries, saying that Tehran is ready to find a proper mechanism to implement Hormuz Peace Endeavor.

Iran Press/Middle East: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on Thursday in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Khaled Al-Jarallah in Kuwait, saying that Tehran is ready to find a proper mechanism to implement Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE) in collaboration with all Persian Gulf littoral states.

He added that Iran’s HOPE, proposed by President Hassan Rouhani at the recent UN General Assembly, is a proper mechanism in which regional countries can strengthen peace and stability and promote their bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Araghchi also said that the Persian Gulf littoral states can play a significant role in shaping their own bright future if they use their capabilities and abilities.

The Iranian senior diplomat went on to say that Tehran believes cooperation with regional countries will contribute to providing security, adding that holding talks is the only way to achieve this goal.

Araghchi noted that the regional states’ positive approach towards the HOPE initiative will result in the reduction of current tensions.

He welcomed recent talks between the Salvation Government and other parties in Yemen, saying that the only way to end this war is through holding talks between Yemeni parties.

The Iranian official also thanked  Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for facilitating talks in the region.

Khaled Al-Jarallah, for his part, said that Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states are looking forward to reducing tensions in the region, saying that talks are the only option to resolve all problems.

Abbas Araghchi has traveled to Kuwait to describe the HOPE initiative.

The initiative was proposed by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly this year.

Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE)

In an address to the 74th session of the UN General Assembly on September 25, Rouhani said as a steward of maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, Iran invites all countries that are affected by developments in the strategic region to join the Hormuz Peace Endeavor.
