The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for using a fake name for the Persian Gulf, urging him to correct the mistake.
Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, addressing Emmanuel Macron, wrote on Twitter: "The body of water located in southern Iran has only one name, the Persian Gulf."
Mousavi described the French military presence in the Persian Gulf as wrong as Macron's mistake.
I remind Monsieur Macron that the gulf located south of Iran has only one name and that is the #PersianGulf. Your military presence in the Persian Gulf is as wrong as your naming it. Both mistakes are huge but compensable.

Mousavi released the tweet in three languages: French, English, and Persian.
Macron recently used a fake name in a tweet to refer to the Persian Gulf.
