  • Iran condemns UN human rights resolution as double standard policy

Tehran (IP) - Iran has rejected a human rights resolution which was approved in the 43rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) as a double standard policy on human rights which has been taken for granted.

Iran Press/Iran News: Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that the approval of the resolution on the human rights situation at the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council was selective, intentional, confrontational, politically motivated, and condemned it.

The draft resolution on the human rights situation was presented by Sweden with the support of some Western countries.

"It is unfortunate that the political and instrumental use of human rights and the application of double standards in dealing with this issue has been taken for granted," Foreign Ministry Spokesman said.

"In this regard, how these countries react to the suppression of racist protests in the United States is a good example of measuring and verifying the human rights concerns of this group of countries," the spokesman added.

The spokesman noted that countries that have supported the resolution on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran have adopted double standards regarding the human rights situation in other countries, which has led to the misuse of UN mechanisms.

The spokesperson underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to its legislation and international treaties on the way to improve human rights issues both domestically, regionally, and internationally.
