Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed that the government seeks to connect the centers for the distribution of goods to the railway network and establish the door-to-door distribution of foods without the participation of any human in the process.

Iran Press/Iran News: Delivering a speech during a ceremony for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Development of the Grain Rail Transportation from Ports to the Aprin Dry Port between the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway and the Tidewater Middle East Company, Mohammad Eslami called the agreement as important and effective, saying: “Door-to-door distribution of foods without the participation of any human in the process as well as the unessential discharge are advantages of the plan.”  

The Minister added that with the inauguration of the Aprin Dry Port, 20 kilometers to the southwest of Tehran, where Iran’s north-south and east-west rail transit routes meet, and shortening the distribution chain, grains reach the consumer at a lower price.

Highlighting the number of Tidewater Company shareholders as to be 42,000, The Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed the benefit the community is achieving nowadays due to its gradual investment.

Managing-Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Saeed Rasouli for his part said that this agreement was signed between the two sides in a condition the cruel and illegal sanctions have been imposed on Iran and the country is dealing with economic problems.

Rasouli expressed: "Total invest value of this project has been estimated to be 1600 Billion Tomans within the period of two years."

A dry port is a terminal situated in an inland area with rail connections to one or more container seaports. A container freight train service runs between the seaports and the dry port, on a service timetable that is integrated with the schedules of the container ships arriving at the seaport.
