  • Iran's steps in producing COVID-19 vaccine

Numerous research teams are working on a COVID-19 vaccine in Iran and have reached promising results.

Iran Presscommentary: Iran's Minister of Health Saeed Namaki reported on Friday the progress of several Iranian research teams in the production of a COVID-19 vaccine, expressing hope that people will hear good news in this regard.

Namaki said that the Iranian-made vaccine worked on animals and yielded good results and will be soon tested on humans too.

According to the World Health Organization, the number of people infected with Coronavirus in the world has exceeded 14 million, of which nearly 600,000 people have lost their lives. The number of people infected with the virus in Iran also has reached about 270,000 and about 14,000 have died due to the disease.

There are two main points to consider about the fight against the lethal disease:

The first is the way of confronting the spread of the virus, which plays a very important role in reducing the incidence of the disease.

The medical staff of Iran has made achievements in controlling the virus outbreak with great dedicated work, and despite the beginning of the second wave of the disease, on Friday, foreign airline flights over Iran's sky returned to normal due to the increase in health indicators at airports.

The second point is the efforts to accelerate the treatment of the disease; Iran's important step in this regard indicates the increase in scientific and medical achievements of the country.

The head of the Scientific Committee of the National Headquarters for Fighting Coronavirus Mostafa Qanei said: "We know a few countries in the world that when a viral disease spread throughout their country and needs all the facilities, equipment, and diagnostic kits, they could become an exporter of the items within two months. This shows that Iran's technological strength is very good compared to the countries that claimed to be at the top level."

Currently, the researchers in the country are testing vaccines and drugs that are effective in treating patients with COVID-19. Obviously, the results of research in this field will be shared with other countries.

If one of the methods or drugs comes effective, they will enter the treatment protocol with the approval of the Scientific Committee of the National Headquarters for Fighting Coronavirus.

Given the activities of 57 research groups to produce the vaccine of COVID-19, Iran is one of the most active countries in international research and participates with a very high number of research cases and results.

Researchers in Iran are looking for ways to eradicate the Coronavirus with modern medical methods, as stated by the Iranian Minister of Health.  207/214
