Iran seeks to hold Muharram rituals, observing health protocols: official
Tehran (IP) - According to the instructions of the Muharram mourning rituals, the rituals are scheduled to be held throughout Iran with restrictions and in compliance with health protocols due to the spread of the coronavirus, said the deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement.
Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at a session of the Social-Security Committee of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus on Wednesday, Hossein Zolfaqari noted: “The instructions for the Muharram mourning rituals have been finalized and will be announced today.”
Elaborating on the details of the instructions of holding the Muharram rituals, the Secretary of the Committee Hossein Qasemi told the reporters that the rituals are to be held in open spaces and with time constraints and observance of social distancing and other health protocols.
Elsewhere, Zolfaqari went on to say that the instructions for the Muharram mourning rituals are to be ratified by the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus today and will be announced for implementation.
The deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement also said at the meeting: “Due to the situation in Tehran, it was decided to cancel Tehran traffic zones for another week and during this period, its impact on reducing the number of COVID-19 infections in the Iranian capital will be examined.
