Tehran (IP) - The Iranian spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the stability and steadfastness of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the resistance against domination are rooted in the culture of Ashura.

Iran Press/Iran News: Tomorrow (Sunday) coincides with the tenth day of Muharram 1442 AH (August 30, 2020), the day of Ashura, and the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shiites in the world.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeid Khatibzadeh tweeted on Saturday that Ashura is not just a day in history: "Ashura is a constant choice between right and wrong, honor and humiliation, and freedom and domination."

Emphasizing that Iran's steadfastness in resisting domination is rooted in the Ashura culture, Khatibzadeh added: "No power, no matter how cruel, can take this culture from a nation that is ready to sacrifice."

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in separate messages in Arabic and English stressed: "Ashura is a historical lesson whose flame has never been extinguished in the hearts of Muslims and free people of the world and gives them strength in the face of oppression and tyranny."

Imam Hussein (AS) explicitly emphasized in the event of Karbala: "My intention is to expose the anti-Islamic government and to establish the good and forbid the bad and to stand against oppression and tyranny."

The lessons of Imam Hussein (AS) movement are extended all over history and geography to the extent of all creation, humanity, and the world, and it can never be limited.
