Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministry spokesman said that there are a follow-up and dialogue at the bilateral, and international levels continue to determine the fate of the Lebanese leader Imam Mousa Sadr.

Iran Press/Iran News: On the 42nd anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr, which coincides with Ashura, Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said Iran has always been pursuing the issue over the past years and the search will continue and will be on the agenda until a result we reach a truth.

Referring to the dimensions of Imam Musa Sadr's personality, Khatibzadeh explained Imam Musa Sadr as one of the most influential figures who did his best for the unity and dignity of Muslims, the dialogue of religions, and the proximity of religions.

"In Lebanon, Imam Musa Sadr is best known for his role in shaping the core of the resistance against the occupation of Islamic territories (Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria) by the Zionist regime of Isreal and for creating unity and peaceful coexistence between the followers of religions," he noted. 

Referring to the intellectual similarity of Imam Musa Sadr's views with Imam Khomeini's ideas, Khatibzadeh stressed that Imam Musa Sadr should be considered the reviver of the political life of the poor, oppressed, and deprived and the founder of many activities in Lebanon.

He reiterated that Iran's Foreign Ministry with the cooperation of Lebanese officials are following the case of Imam Musa Sadr with all its complexities in various ways, and there are bilateral and international follow-ups and talks to determine the fate of him and his two companions.

On 25 August 1978, Imam Mousa Sadr and two companions departed for Libya to meet with government officials at the invitation of Muammar Gaddafi.

The three were last seen on 31 August. They were never heard from again. Their whereabouts remain unknown to this day.
