Palestinian girl shot dead by Israeli forces
Israeli security forces shot and killed a Palestinian teen at the al-Zaayim checkpoint, on a road that leads to the entrance of the illegal Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim, east of occupied Jerusalem, on Wednesday morning.
Iran Press/Middle East: Israeli soldiers deployed at the checkpoint opened fire at a Palestinian teen who was allegedly wielding a knife and running towards them.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the killed teen as 16-year-old Samah Zuheir Mubarak, a resident from Ramallah City, Maan news reported.
An Israeli police spokesperson claimed in a statement that the Palestinian teen attempted to stab one of the Israeli soldiers situated at the checkpoint, when security forces intervened and opened fire.
Also on November 3, a young Palestinian protester was shot and injured by Israeli forces during protests in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah.
The teen was critically injured, however, succumbed to her injuries within a few minutes.
No injuries were reported among Israelis.
The checkpoint was temporarily closed following the alleged attack.
The Israeli police Commissioner, Yoram Halevi, visited the site of the attack and said, “Police are investigating where the female suspect came from and heightened security is continuing in the area.”
A report by a Palestinian human rights centre revealed that Israeli forces have killed at least 54 Palestinian children and arrested over 900 others since the beginning of 2018.
Figures show that more than 2,100 Palestinian children have been martyred and over 13,000 wounded by Israeli live bullets since the outbreak of al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.
