Iran's amb. to Iraq congratulates anniversary of liberation of Mosul
Iran's Ambassador to Iraq congratulated the Iraqi people and government on the anniversary of the liberation of Mosul.
Iran Press/ Middle East: Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi said in a message to Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi on Saturday: "On the anniversary of the liberation of Mosul from the terrorist group ISIS, I would like to once again congratulate this great victory to the Prime Minister, the government, the nation, the political and religious leaders, especially the army, Popular Mobilization Forces, security and anti-terrorism forces, and police of Iraq."
Referring to the role of Ayatollah Sistani, Iraq's top Shia cleric, in the uprising against ISIS terrorists, Masjedi said: "With unity and empathy, the Iraqi government and people can overcome all obstacles and create other great victories."

Emphasizing the role of General Qasem Soleimani, the late Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the late Deputy Commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces in defeating the ISIS terrorist group, Masjedi once again condemned US terrorist act in the assassination of these two high-ranking martyrs.
The city of Mosul was liberated from ISIS occupation in an operation on July 9, 2017, with the participation of the Iraqi army, Popular Mobilization Forces, and various tribes and ethnic groups of Iraq.
Mosul which is Iraq's second-largest city was occupied by ISIS terrorist group in 2014. 207
