One of Iraq's leading politicians, Hadi al-Ameri, has announced his withdrawal from the race for Iraq's next prime minister.

According to an Iran Press report, speaking at a press conference In Baghdad on Tuesday, Hadi al-Ameri  officially announced his withdrawal from the race to become Iraq's next prime minister.

Speaking to reporters at the press conference al-Ameri said: "I hope that the technicalities for selecting a president and a prime minister are quickly over and done with."
